A dedicated centre offering comprehensive care in health problems of children, the Child Health centre at Aster MIMS ensures safe and high quality medical care for infants and children. The centre offers exceptional clinical support and medical care, which is made possible by a well-trained team of paediatricians, neonatologists and paediatric intensive care doctors, ably supported by specialty trained nurses.


The department has well-equipped Neonatal intensive care units, managed by qualified nurses, duty paediatricians, backed by highly qualified consultants, neonatologists and paediatric surgeons. The department has state-of-the-art Paediatric medical and surgical intensive care units.


The Department of Paediatrics at Aster MIMS started off with a Neonatal Intensive Unit and a general paediatric department in 2002. In the year 2004, in addition to existing clinics the department started different speciality clinics like Paediatric Asthma Clinic, Paediatric Rheumatology Clinic and Child Development Clinic. The Paediatric Asthma Clinic is backed by the Pulmonology department. Patient education regarding Inhaler Therapy and Prevention of Asthma are highlighted in these clinics. The Paediatric Rheumatology Clinic started with the help of Rheumatology department and is the first of its kind in the state. The Child Development Clinic was started with the aim to provide best care for cases like high risk babies and normal babies for detection of early developmental aberrations so that early help can be instituted. The clinic offers multispecialty packages which include ENT, Ophthalmology, and Physical Medicine.

Paediatric Surgery

This department in conjunction with department of Paediatrics and Neonatology provides comprehensive care of the surgical neonate, infant and child. From the day of birth to the age of 13 years, all surgical conditions in the child are managed in this department. This includes congenital disorders (birth disorders), infective, traumatic and neoplastic conditions, which need surgery such as, cleft lip and palate, anomalies of the ano-rectum, kidney, ureter and bladder, hypospadias, anomalies of the gastro intestinal system, etc. In addition to surgical treatment, the department also run an antenatal counselling clinic where pregnant mothers with abnormalities of the foetus detected before delivery are seen, investigated and counselled about their baby, its overall prognosis, management etc.
